about

I love touching The land on The continent.
It doesn't really matter where I am. North, South, East, West, or central finds me at my best.
I have always noticed upon exiting the plane and spending, at least, 14 days back home the grey in my beard clears up, my appetite for food lessens, my body becomes more lean and muscular, I am more sensitive to sound and light, and overall just a better person.

Over the years, I've made it my business to traverse the content and hit, what I call, the 5 points of North, South, East, West, and Central Afraka.
From my first voyage in 1997 up until today, it has been a journey of historical discovery, new friendships, family expansion, entrepreneurial pursuits, and education in a more sane culture.

A few of the places I have touched down and even planted my flag are :

#nigeria #ghana #tanzania #ethiopia, #rwanda #togo #southafrica #namibia #benin #egypt #kenya #eritrea #zambia #congo #swaziland #liberia #senegal

Being ANU, I move with my own culture and language. Even though English is the most portable language on the continent (as it is the language/mark of the beast), it is far more powerful when you move as a collective over there as tribal culture is respected far more than western individualism.

lyrics

First time
Touching down in Lagos
Moving as a King
Searching for his Queen
A sea of different people
So dignified
Look like you
Look like me
Distant family
But some don't know who they are
Have no clue they're mentally scarred

A-F-R-A-K-A-N
That just means I'm an Afrakan
A-F-R-A-K-A-N
That just means I'm an Afrakan

First time
Touching land in Kenya
Felt at ease on the street
I could breathe comfortably
And it was so divine

Mombasa got me
Kitali got me
Nairobi got me
Nkuru got me
Malindi got me
Mlongo got me

A-F-R-A-K-A-N
That just means I'm an Afrakan
A-F-R-A-K-A-N
That just means I'm an Afrakan

A-F-R-A-K-A-N
That just means I'm an Afrakan
A-F-R-A-K-A-N
That just means I'm an Afrakan

First time
I touched the sands of Kemet
I saw you
I saw me
I saw all our family
It blew my mind

Touch the land
See your history
Truth is there
It's no mystery

Opened eye
To reality
Future lies
In your mentality

Touch the land
See your history
Truth is there
It's no mystery

Opened eye
To reality
Future lies
In your mentality

Touch the land
See your history
Truth is there
It's no mystery

Opened eye
To reality
Future lies

Chief Yuya New York, New York

What happens when live instruments, a deep baritone voice, and lyrics that radiate from spiritual to the profane create a sonic force that takes your soul and animal nature on a melodic safari? The return of healthy masculinity through music.
Chief Yuya communicates decades of a journey as a composer, multi-instrumentalist, spiritualist, and thought leader into a provocative musical escapade.
