about

A name is a formula. There is no getting around it.

There can be number constructs within number constructs. In other words, you can have a public name which is your first level of security, and a private name which protects your core being. Names have number values and numbers are their own #cipher.

Our #Kujichagulia (Self-Determination) is the key. How we define ourselves is how we limit or allow for the expansion of what we perceive as "the self". Call me what you want. It is really none of my business. Put your own #vibration into the ether. Make sure your name is #divine, mathematically sound, and a statement of your culture.

I have been traveling for the past few days so, I played my tambourines and recorded vocals in hotel rooms. I recorded my Djembe in my storage space while loading up my truck. Technology is such an amazing thing. It allows for such portability and quick composition. This challenge has been a journey of discovery for me. I have been able to see how much time and energy I save for my more secret talents.

Composing, producing, performing, and mixing a song every 7 days until the vernal equinox has shown me the formula of my own rhythms throughout the 7-day cycle. Allowing imperfections has dealt a powerful blow to any spirits of procrastination that would seek to obscure this sacred mission of melody and rhythm.

lyrics

Keep on

They call me Mandingo
So they can work me hard
But yesterday
Yesterday
Yesterday
My people
They call me king
Mansa
Our king
They say you don't need Ndamanso
We gave you god
They gave me god
I laugh
So I don't cry
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Don't you know you're royalty
They don't know
I be Mansa
I be Mansa
I be Mansa

Call me Mandingo
Call me Mandingo
Call me Mandingo
Call me Mandingo

And I'll be Mansa
I'll be Mansa
I'll be Mansa
I'll be Mansa
Mansa the king
Mansa your king

Not your boy
Not your gal
Not your buck
Not your wench
Not your slave
Not your coon
Not your shine
Not your spade
Not your jigaboo
Not your jungle bunny
Not your mammy
Not your pickaninny
Not your tar baby
Not your colored
Not your citizen

You can't have my soul
They can't have my soul oh
Can't have my soul
Can't have my soul oh

They will bleed
Just like we
Don't you know you're royalty
Because they don't want you to see
Don't you know you're royalty
They no live in harmony

Call me Mandingo
Call me Mandingo
Call me Mandingo
Call me Mandingo
Call me Mandingo
Call me Mandingo
Call me Mandingo
Call me Mandingo
Call me Mandingo

I'll be Mansa
I'll be Mansa
I'll be Mansa
I'll be Mansa
I'll be Mansa

Call me Mandingo
You can call me Mandingo
You can call me Mandingo
But I'll be Mansa

King
King
King
King
King

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Six one
Two hundred and sixty pounds
Do you think I was built for anything
Other than revolution
Evolution
I'm ready
Keep on

about

Chief Yuya New York, New York

What happens when live instruments, a deep baritone voice, and lyrics that radiate from spiritual to the profane create a sonic force that takes your soul and animal nature on a melodic safari? The return of healthy masculinity through music.
Chief Yuya communicates decades of a journey as a composer, multi-instrumentalist, spiritualist, and thought leader into a provocative musical escapade.
